The Client

Microlink are award winning leaders in the field of Assistive Technology. Based in the UK, they consult Government and business on how to support disabled people in the workplace. Microlink’s mission is to breakdown barriers caused by disability through technology, advice, support and training.

The challenge

Working with Microlink, our challenge was to create two explainer films around the same topic for different audiences. These had to challenge perceptions of disability in the employment and education sectors in a short amount of time. We had to present these challenges and new perceptions in a way that was visually interesting, memorable and engaging.

The film

Disabilty in the workforce has a very different reality to the one we often presume. Indeed, one in four people in the workplace will become disabled. In schools 20% of students have disabilities, and when worked with early on the impact of these can be reduced greatly. In fact, in both the school and workplace setting people experiencing disabilities can bring a wide range of benefits and new perspectives.

Our films show this through a sequence of visual metaphors that balance information with entertainment. The first film, Workplace - Disability Myth Busting Workforce, features metaphors such as ancient myths to expose modern myths. Similarly, the film Learning with Microlink, the All inclusive Classroom revolved around the metaphor of water to describe a students journey through education.
