Did the rise of capitalism really owe much of its early impetus to hard working Calvinists? That’s what Max Weber proposed. While most religions turn their backs on money, the Calvinist view that working hard and doing good for the community in order to guarantee your place in heaven actually gave capitalism a much needed boost.
