CIRAD
Impact of Research in the South
CIRAD are passionate about making agricultural research increasingly collaborative, with long-term impacts. At the heart of this passion is rethinking how agricultural research is conceived, planned and executed. Together, we created this whiteboard animation to explain the role of the ImpresS approach in making CIRAD’s mission a reality.
The Scrapbook
The Brief
Speaking to an audience of researchers and funders, our whiteboard animation needed give a brief introduction on the work of CIRAD’s researchers followed by a detailed explanation of the steps that go into ImpresS. This explanation needed to cover what each step meant for researchers and their work. Operating within the brand guidelines, our explainer animation needed to maximise engagement by using widely understood language and a wide range of characters.
The Explainer Video
The messages at the heart of our film for CIRAD were brought to life through charming illustrations and a broad cast of characters. Joined by a carefully written script and a professional yet warm voiceover, these allowed us to introduce the subject and key points in a way that explained them in detail while also ensuring they were engaging and memorable.
A combination of illustrations, icons and visual metaphors in CIRAD brand colours allowed us to bring ImpresS to the screen. We were able to connect points and ideas together through visual thinking while onscreen text and icons, like a ring of people, allowed us to highlight points made by the voiceover – ensuring the audience took away a thorough understanding of ImpresS and what it means for their research. We augmented process maps and charts with characters and illustrations to make our explanation informative and engaging. Animation framed the information and guided viewers through the film.
