International IDEA
25th Anniversary Film
Democracies face many threats today, but organisations such as International IDEA exist to support them as they face these challenges. International IDEA have been doing this for 25 years and came to us to create this whiteboard animation telling their story, highlighting the threats and importance of supporting and engaging with democracy.
The Scrapbook
The Brief
It was crucial we created an animation which not only celebrated the work of International IDEA, but was forward thinking and empowering. The animation needed to explain the threats faced by democracy today and their urgency - before delivering a message of hope, progress and the engagement.
The Explainer Video
Our animation for International IDEA communicated their history and work by first highlighting the challenges democracy faces. The narrative then flowed into International IDEA’s projects, before culminating in a passionate message about importance of democracy.
Engaging and relatable imagery allowed us to visualise the story in a way which was meaningful, memorable and engaging. Imagery like a burning planet wearing a facemask succinctly embodied some of the challenges we face while the inclusion of a team of doctors checking the health of democracy brought key points to life visually. Relatability was an essential consideration and was something we worked into the illustrations and visual metaphors. Visuals like falling dominos and shredded ballots captured the issues raised in the voiceover in a way which was relatable, memorable and striking
The animation ended on a clear message and guided viewers from existential threats faced by democracy to the positive impact of International IDEA’s work and the empowering nature of democracy as we strive for a better world.
