4 Ways to communicate your brand in your Whiteboard Explainer Film

Nurturing and growing your brand takes time, and in itself is a big achievement. Good brand identities can reinforce your values, differentiate you from competitors, inspire recognition and loyalty, and build your audience. Given all of this, including and reinforcing that brand identity in your whiteboard animations and other explainer films is a must. Whiteboard animations are great at showcasing your brand in just the way you want, offering a big tool box of techniques capable of capturing your essence. Here are just four.

Colour

Whiteboard animation is all about the visual synthesis of information, and usually uses black and one or two accent colours to bring your ideas to life. This is a great opportunity to get your brand colours embedded and it allows viewers to recognise and link the animation with your brand and other marketing. As you can see below, this was done in an excellent way recently by EDF Energy.

Characters

A good brand knows exactly who it is talking to. This is a great advantage when it comes to creating whiteboard animations. The medium allows complete visual freedom, meaning you can make the characters in your film in a style relevant to or of reflective of your audience. This strength was used by the North American Forest Partnership to encompass the wide range of people they work with and engage with.

Logos

Your logo is your calling card, it is that thing which in any context brings you to mind. It could be on a website, on packaging or on a tote bag. This is a very important part of your brand identity to include, and whiteboard animations give you several options. You could use the logo in a front or end board, or incorporate it in a drawn format during the film. Going even further it can be turned into the centerpiece of your film. Octopus Communities took this route and put their logo at the heart of their animation.

Tone

Tone is created through the combination of visual elements such as colour, character design, the choice of language and the style of voiceover. Whiteboard Animations are good at delivering tone because they use three pillars of storytelling, beginning with a written script which is then turned into a visual narrative and completed by a voiceover. This means you can get your brand across in just the way you want to. Tone was used well by Exeter University in this whiteboard animation promoting their Education Incubator.

Your brand is important, and handling it in the right way is essential to successfully engage your audience and grow your business. Whiteboard Animation allows you to integrate it seamlessly, reinforcing your brand identity in fresh new ways.
