TuBerculosis Vaccine Initiative (TBVI)
The TB Vaccine Development Pathway
Tuberculosis claims more lives than any other single pathogen, and developing new life saving tuberculosis vaccines is vital However, the complexity of the development process can mean that even having a promising product is no guarantee of success. That’s why the TuBerculosis Vaccine Initiative (TBVI) work to support, integrate and prioritise R&D effortS. We were honoured to help the TBVI raise awareness about this important subject and their Pathway tool.
The Brief
TB vaccine development is complex, slow, and filled with hurdles. Yet at the heart of it all are patients, the people who need these vaccines the most. The Vaccine Development Pathway Tool by TBVI was created to guide researchers through the process, making sure no crucial steps are missed. Our job was to explain this in an animation that was clear, engaging, and human.
How We Delivered
We started with the problem: a tangled web of decisions, delays, and dead ends—the reality for many researchers. This confusion was juxtaposed with the structured, step-by-step clarity of the TBVI tool, which cut through the noise and provided a clear way forward.
To keep it human, we showed people using the tool: individuals making choices, solving problems, and moving ahead with confidence. Characters brought the story to life, showing real interactions with the tool rather than just explaining it.
And throughout, we kept the focus on patients. The script opened and closed with them—because in the end, that’s what this is all for.
The Client
The TBVI are a non-profit foundation, dedicated to creating an enabling environment for TB vaccine research, innovation and product development. Their TB Vaccine Development Pathway enables the TBVI to make decisions to select candidates in an objective and transparent manner and to use the available financial resources effectively.
