WASH
Fisheries and aquaculture have a vital role in the diets of over a billion people. Proper sanitation and hygiene (WASH) play a vital role in this, ensuring the health of fisheries workers, the quality of fish products and reducing the spread of antimicrobial resistance. To explain the importance of this and raise awareness about existing guidance, the World Bank worked with us to create a whiteboard explainer video.
The Brief
In less than two minutes, our creative team needed to distill and explain technical content in a way that inspired audiences to follow the call to action and read the World Bank’s guidance. Our explainer need video needed to communicate a range of soft regulations such as behaviour and hard interventions such as policy, as we reflected the experiences of lower middle income countries, and engaged viewers with our storytelling.
The Explainer Video
Our video began by explaining the importance of guidance around WASH, before going into the hard and soft interventions that can improve the three sectors covered by WASH. We built our visual storytelling around the WASH acronym, using creative visual thinking, accurate representations of interventions and visual devices like icons to explain the key aspects of the guidance and its impacts. To help the audience resonate with the video and its message, we drew relatable and realistic characters.
Our visual thinking was joined by a positive yet professional voiceover, which delivered the script and added an additional information stream to the explainer video. Ending on a clear call to action, we invited viewers to read the World Bank’s guidance, giving them the link to follow on-screen.
